General Black Ops tips - JUNGLE (Team Deathmatch)

Class I am using with this discussion:
Famas/AK47 with silencer - with Ghost, Slight of hand, and Ninja
Strela (rocket launcher) as secondary
Claymores as equipment

Jungle is a fairly large map that divide two groups of people.  People who dominate and people who get owned.  I'd like to think I fit into the first category on this one.  When it comes up in a playlist, about half of the time it gets re-voted for those reasons.  This map offers some good fast paced action near the village, while also having areas for patient sniping (I.E. sitting on the rock).  I usually roll with the perks Ghost (invisible on enemy radar), Slight of Hand (fast reload), and Ninja (silent movement).  All pro if possible.

The spawns start relatively at B4 and D2.  Either one has the same goal: RUN TO, AND CONTROL THE RUINS.   The ruins are the main battleground for this map.  Yes, there are other areas where firefights occur, but I'm going to stick to the ruins with this strategy.

If I start at D2 I quickly run, cook a grenade, and throw it over the huts when getting close to D3.  This same thing can be done when starting at the other spawn.  I will, if my team is still guarding my flank, go prone and try to get kills through a small opening in a trough (see below).  As long as you have your teammates looking behind you (see below for more info), this is a good starting point.

From here it's all about guarding the path coming up from the river, as well as the enemy that have climbed up into the hut on your left.  Cap em' as they try to move in.  I then move a little further ahead but still stay within the ruins.  As you can see in the picture below, you can easily pick off the enemy as they move up the path.  They will throw stun and flash grenades but with the boxes in front of you just quickly kneel down and they won't affect you.  You can also throw a grenade from here and bounce it off the fence and it will roll down the hill if you have some skill with those.

No matter which spawn you start out at, the point is to control the ruins.  But this has to be a team decision.  If you're the only one out there these things may work but the chance of getting stabbed in the back enhances greatly.  There's one other strategy that gets me 10+ kills easily.  While still in the ruins, return to the pillar and boxes in the middle of D2/D3.  The enemy will actually spawn down near the river and come up directly at you and place themselves right in your cross hairs.  You will only have a little bit of your head showing while they will be completely vulnerable.  You can either pick them off as they come up the ruins (see picture below), or get them as they run up the path to the right.  There's actually a notch in the pillar to help you out even more when you do this.

If your team is working as a unit you will dominate.  As I reviewed this game in theater mode I noticed how many time BDockSaint, Shmink, and Mojo Fett covered my back.  As I was getting a kill looking down the path, BDockSaint killed someone trying to flank me.

On a side note: I also carry a Strela, because if the enemy gets any sort of air support this game will tip dramatically in that persons favor.  There is no cover and you're killed as soon as you spawn.

Teamwork is important and as you can see below, this strategy works.  Thanks again for reading and don't be afraid to post a comment!

  1. Covering the middle red shack is important as they usually try to flank that spot...also you should mention the krisiun spot next to the ruins its a good camping spot to sit and wait for them to come around the corner.
